Within nature there is both masculine, or driven, energy and feminine, or receptive, energy. When balanced, they work together in harmony.
The driven sperm, and the receptive egg, create life. A river has motion, direction, and force, while a riverbank provides shape and containment. The driven sun with its energy and illumination and the receptive moon with its intuition and reflection, together sustain our own natural rhythms of sleep and growth.
When we are in constant go-mode or feel anger and aggression, our driven energy is on overload. We can bring in the receptive by sitting with your feelings, taking time to digest information, and let it sink in before taking action. When overloaded with the receptive energy, we have difficulty managing our emotions, we are in action paralysis, unable to make decisions and execute. We can bring in the driven by leaning on logic and setting emotional boundaries with others.
We are always moving up and down this driven/receptive continuum. When balanced, we create internal harmony, so it’s important to recognize, embrace, and then actively work with both energies within us.
Suggestions for Applying This Law:
Make time each day for both action and reflection.
Spend time journaling to connect with your inner voice. Decide if there are any actions to take from the insight learned.
Practice active listening balanced with clear communication.
Spend quiet time in a nature simply observing. Then actively work with nature by gathering flowers or gardening.
When a decision is needed, sit quietly first before moving forward.
